Johns’ Gospel is written so people will believe in Jesus. This gospel, while selecting similar stories from the other three, is unique in that 7 is the number of Miracles, “I Am” statements about Himself. It includes some stories that are not recounted in other Gospels thus not being included in what is called “the Synoptics”: Matthew, Mark and Luke.
Yet this is the most profound Gospel. In the opening verses Jesus is declared as God, pre-existent, and the gospel is summed up in one verse (3:16). John the Disciple probably wrote this around A.D. 85
